Today my robotics class will be filming each other "Booting" into Mac from a partitioned computer. 5 months ago it was a foreign concept. Today, my 6th graders (11 & 12 year olds), transition from a PC to a Mac or the reverse is flawless.

This is another example of how students will post to my blog. I did the instructions in real time so that they can watch & learn how to complete a post.
My students downloaded the Weebly app. Using the video posted as an example. Look for more good work to come!
"A new way of thinking" is the best way to describe my reflections on my first trimester as part of MIT & the pilot iPad 1:1 project. The way students engage with me, the way they approach a task, the active learning in my classroom, & how I teach are rapidly changing. Everyone is excited & overwhelmed by the progress of our students. I hope to continue the amazing progress & excitement I have found & felt in my classroom during the second trimester. I know the possibilities for teaching are endless.
Okay, I plan a great project for class and what happens when I begin to teach and explain the project... The students come up with a better idea on incorporating the technology. I have planned this project for months. I would show my value to the MIT program and my school. Since the change in plans makes the project better, let's hope my superiors won't be too upset if my classroom projects are p
Oh my goodness! I cannot believe that November is almost here. We just finished progress reports and parent conferences. I have been very remiss on my website and blog. iPad 1 to 1 in going well. I just need to be diligent about establishing routine and rules about how to use the iPad in class. During parent conferences I had to remind the parents that the iPad is a tool for class and not just a toy or gaming system. I'm getting ready to begin video diaries for my projects.
Wow… It’s already October. I can’t believe that a month has gone by in the classroom. I am learning to find a balance between when to use the technology and when to use just good old fashion “paper & pencil”. My class will be submitting projects to me soon. I love Edmodo too. My student responses are much more thoughtful in most cases. I love the fact that students are responding more in math with written responses about math that are grammatical sound. The journey continues…
Getting ready to have kids use iPads to submit projects. My robotics class has done well using the iPads: 2 projects- one building mini satellite Orions and video taping the experience of working to build something in a group; second project- filming a listening activity between 2 students. Math and Science projects are coming along. Hopefully, I will be able to blog about them in the coming weeks. It's been a pleasure & a privilege to have been asked to pilot iPad 1to1. Bad news: Apple Id accounts were a "pain". Good news: Kids responses are some the best I've seen in years when posting to interactive online sites like Edmodo. More good news to come. It's really changing the way I teach my students.
I was going to teach something today, but all my students want to do is talk about iPads. I need to establish some guidelines for my class. I really don't know what to expect, so how can I establish guidelines? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
